GEM Leadership Award

Congratulations to Rick Schildgen of CL Graphics the 2017 recipient of the GEM Award for being a Generous, Enthusiastic, and Motivated leader in the Crystal Lake community. 

In the local community, Rick has served on the Crystal Lake Chamber Board as Chairman, the Chamber Ambassadors, The McHenry County Community Foundation and several printing organizations.  He also works with many non-profits in the area. 

In 2015 Rick was awarded the prestigious Carl E. Wehde Award at the annual Chamber Dinner. Rick exemplifies the personal and professional qualities of Carl Wehde through his dedication to business, family and community.

2017 GEM Honoree

The Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce Foundation is hosting the 4th Annual “Be Brilliant” GEM Leadership Appreciation Luncheon on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Boulder Ridge Country Club. This year’s honoree is Rick Schildgen, owner of C L Graphics in Crystal Lake.

“A respected business owner in McHenry County, Rick has been a 35-year member of the Crystal Lake Chamber. He has always been active in supporting both community non-profits as well as the community at large,” said Matthew Horist, the Chamber Foundation’s Board Member and GEM Luncheon Committee Chair. “The GEM theme, which stands for Generous, Enthusiastic and Motivated to make a difference, are all qualities Rick embodies.”

Leaders in Action Scholarships Awarded

Four scholarships were awarded for the January 2017 Leaders in Action Explore series.  This is an educational series presented by the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce.  Since 2011 the Foundation has awarded 33 scholarships to the Chamber’s Leadership Programs.  Leaders in Action – Masters is the next in the series starting in March of 2017.  Please contact the Foundation if you are interested in a scholarship.

Congratulations Richard Harms

Congratulations to Richard Harms 33, our 2016 GEM (Generous, Enthusiastic & Motivated) Leader. Well deserved!

Richard was honored at the 3rd Annual GEM Leadership Luncheon on March 11th for his long standing legacy of quietly serving the Crystal Lake community. He has been instrumental in enhancing numerous downtown business events, Chamber events, local charitable events and many youth organizations. He is past president of the Crystal Lake Downtown/Main Street Association and continues to serve on their board.

Richard is a consistent champion of Crystal Lake and the business community. “Giving back to the community that has been very good to Countryside, has been very important to me,” said Richard. While Countryside is a member of several local Chambers, Richard himself has been active in the Crystal Lake Chamber since 1982 and currently serves on the golf committee, is an Ambassador, and Past Chamber Board of Directors member. He was the recipient of the Robert O. Covey Business of the Year in 2004, Presidential Award of Excellence in 2010, and Independence Day Parade Grand Marshal in 2013. Countryside is also the recipient of the 2010 Pride in Crystal Lake Award.
